ISSUES & PROBLEMS

As the population of elderly increases, hence the special needs to treat the older age would increase rapidly as the elderly are less healthy than the Young.
There is not only a need for additional care for the elderly but jointly environments that offer superior quality of care that address the combined psychological, social and physical needs of the occupants.

In modern societies there is also often a negative stigma attached to the aged who are often regarded as a liability rather than an asset to society, who still have a role to play, rather than becoming quiescent members in the community.

The Social Inclusion of Senior Citizens with Architectural Design written by Yong,S.Y. (2020).
Abstract
The research paper is to analyze relevant architectural principles towards re-integrating the senior citizen into urban community. Many senior citizens were neglected by the society due to some of the aspect of physical and mental deterioration they may encounter as they aged. Hence, few aspects were considered to integrate the senior citizen back into the society as they have more to offer to the society. Initially, evaluating the needs of the elderlies are one of the main important aspect before moving on into other aspects. Following by assisting the senior citizen to carry out Activities of Daily Living (ADLS). After knowing about their potential needs and their struggles, few architectural principles were identified for instances the built environment and the nature environments that plays a role on how to provide the elderlies a better living as well as the youth community’s contribution towards the elderly’s life. The youth community are essential as it helps to improve their well-being, health and their individual skills as well as creating a bond between the elderly and the youth communities. Hence, few research methods were used to address this research paper that includes providing survey by asking the peoples about their thoughts and opinion towards the contextualizing of the elderlies and whether the architectural principles could be a potential aspect as to integrate the elderlies back into the society. Not only that, interviews and observation were done regarding the Yi Xing Old Folks Home which could relate to this research paper. Throughout the findings, many people from different field contributed in the survey and some important aspect were highlighted as majority people thinks that architectural aspects could be done as to facilitate social connections within the society and elderly as well as improving the life of an elderly. However, the participants may not be aware in what architecture aspects that could help to promote care towards the elderly. This highlighted some of the importance of the built environment and the nature environments addressing the contextualizing of elderlies. In additional, the studies also revealed that both the community of elderlies and youth could be beneficial between one another. This suggested some other facilities and architectural principles regarding the contextualizing of elderlies as well as their needs.
